The Alamance NAACP requested, in a comment submitted by Barrett Brown, Alamance NAACP President, that ABSS Board Members attend a racial equity training. This was due to racially insensitive comments made by Ryan Bowen about the difference in students who attend Title 1 and low preforming schools.
On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, the Alamance NAACP submitted a request to the Graham City Council to vote to rename Sesquicentennial Park, located at the court square in Graham, to “Wyatt Outlaw Park.”
Thank you to the council for agreeing during the January 12th Graham City Council meeting, to add the name change request to the agenda for the next meeting. The next meeting will be held virtually on February 9, 2021 at 6:00 pm.

The Alamance NAACP monthly general meeting will be held virtually on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 4:00 pm. This months speaker will be Anthony Pierce, Alamance NAACP Political Action Chair, discussing; Thurgood Marshall and the Legacy over Voter Suppression; the Struggle Continues. General Membership Meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month at 4:00 pm. Due to COVID-19, meetings are held virtually.
